Review of Shady Cove, Oregon

Little bit of heaven in the country
Star Rating - 12/28/2008
Shady Cove has been my home for the last 18 years. Its a tiny community located on the banks of the Rogue River. Lovely homes line the river, deer and turkeys meander through the yards. Elk are occasionally seen on the outskirts of town.

The air is pristine and the people are friendly. Its close to a city (Medford 20 miles) to shop and enjoy a variety of nightlife.

Only drawback is no city water. Everyone is on private wells.

We are looking to buy a double-wide mobile in one of the 55+ parks in 2014. I am concerned about the cost of heating as it appears there is no natural gas there. What are the financial drawbacks (ie high costs utilities) of living in SC? We were there twice in the summer of 2012 and it is beautiful; I am not a big fan of cold weather but may use it as a home base for snowbirding. We would also consider putting in a pellet stove in the mobile home. Just looking for some overall cost considerations as we are on a fixed income. Any in depth information would be greatly appreciated.
